On 24 of June 2026, Zhlydyz Bakirova, SOLID PhD student and deputy head of the Republican Center of Psychiatry and Narcology in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled “Organization of Psychosocial Assistance for People with Substance Use Disorders” at Bishkek State University. During her PhD studies, Zhyldyz participated in conferences such as the Lisbon Addiction 2022, published several scientific publication, among others an article in the journal Heroin Addiction and Related Clinical Problems, and completed a research internship at Fixpunkt e.V. In Berlin (Germany). Zhyldyz' research interests focus on psychosocial assistance for people who us drugs, especially those enrolled in opioid agonist maintenance treatment (OAMT) programmes in Kyrgyzstan.
